Anisa Mpungwe Q&A With Mr. Price
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR NEW RANGE FOR MR PRICE?
I would say it’s fun and fresh, with a bit of a masculine feel. It also has a modern African element to it.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE RANGE?
I loved the fact that I could use solids and try other kinds of prints. I usually work with very rich and bright hues but with this collection, I went to the extreme and worked with neutrals; there’s black, white and a pop to the palette with mustard yellow.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE PIECES FROM THE RANGE?
I LOVE the box jacket!! You must see the lining!! Eeee!!
THE REDCAP FOUNDATION IS THRILLED TO HAVE YOUR SUPPORT. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU

GIVE TO YOUNG SOUTH AFRICANS?

Every young South African must give himself or herself the time to grow and learn. We all want to run before we crawl, but getting guidance from someone with experience in whatever skill one has is also very important.
WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT SOUTH AFRICAN FASHION?

That we remain open to growth. There is plenty of potential success within the young designers group. Everyday, I see interesting concepts showing face. There is a strong movement of collaborating with different sets of talents. Musicians work with architects, painters with textile designers etc. I love that idea!
